Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Classic
The LBI Surf Fishing Classic Committee in partnership with the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome all surf fishing angler to the 2014 60th Anniversary LBI Surf Fishing Classic.
Congratulations to last years winners! Brian Schmidt of Manahawkin, NJ caught the heaviest striped bass weighing in at 31.13-lbs winning the 59th Annual's $1000 Striper Grand Prize. Bill Montrey of Manahawkin, NJ took the $1000 Bluefish Grand Prize with his 12-lb yellow eyed gator.
The Striped Bass Segment winners were Courtland Foos, Robbie Valone, Joesph Guarini and Michael Kane. For more details check out the ARCHIVE.
The Committee and Chamber is excited for this year's 60th Anniversary, which kicks off October 6th and runs till November 30, 2014. The eight week surf fishing tournament for striped bass and bluefish offers surfcasters the opportunity to compete for thousands of dollars in daily, weekly, segment and grand prizes. There are also additional special prizes that are presented by businesses, fishing clubs and other supporters like LBI Surf Fishing Tournament participants. We are looking forward to another fantastic surf fishing season on Long Beach Island! All beaches are open to drive on for the Tournament, conditions permitting. Surf anglers looking to fish via 4x4 Beach Buggy Access must purchase a permit from each municipality that one would want to drive on or through. The following towns sell beach buggy permits at their police stations:
Beach Haven, Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom, Surf City.
Mandatory NJ Saltwater Angler Registry |
All Saltwater Anglers ages 16 and older MUST register if recreationally fishing (by hand, with a hand line, rod reel and line or spearfishing) in the marine and fresh tidal waters of the State of New Jersey. It is also required for anglers landing any catch in New Jersey even though recreationally fishing in federal waters outside the State of New Jersey.
The registry program is free. Register is online at http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry
NOTE: Anglers with a valid registration with the National Saltwater Angler Registry or those that have a valid license from another exempted state are required to register with the NJ Saltwater Recreational Registry Program. Registration with NJ will exempt you from having to register with the National Saltwater Angler Registry.
