1999 Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament

The 45th Annual LBI Surf Fishing Tournament ended at 6 PM on Sunday, November 14,  with 581 anglers,  314 bass, and 75 bluefish for a total catch of 389 fish. Winners are:

CLUB PLAQUE - Awarded to the fishing club entering the largest striper: Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Club for a 49 Lb. 12 Oz. bass entered by Greg Crossland, West Chester PA

JINGLES O’BRIEN MEMORIAL AWARD - $100 Savings Bond for the striper weighing closest to 21 lbs. 3 oz. caught on October 12. This award is sponsored by Margaret O'Brien of Jingles' Bait & Tackle Shop in Beach Haven. The winner is David J. Shepansky of West Creek NJ for his 21 lb. 9 oz. bass.

HAROLD COATES MEMORIAL AWARD - $100 Gift Certificate to Bruce & Pat’s Bait & Tackle for the largest striper entered on the weekend of November 13-14. This award is sponsored by Marie Coates and Carolyn Coates. The winner is Steven Yanci, Manahawkin NJ, for his 27 lb. 10 oz. bass weighed-in on Nov. 13.

ROBERT A. LITTLE MEMORIAL AWARD - $100 Cash for the 2nd largest striper entered by a juvenile. This award is sponsored by the Little Family. The winner is 9 year old Jessica Gilbert, Beach Haven, for her 12 lb. 9 oz. bass.

HOWARD EARL MEMORIAL SENIORS’ PRIZE - $100 Gift Certificate to Bruce & Pat’s Bait & Tackle Shop for the largest bass entered by a senior the weekend of Oct 16-17. This award is sponsored by Bob Bregler of Ship Bottom in memory of his friend, Howard Earl. The winner is Stanley Steinberg of Warrington PA, for his 22 lb. 14 oz. bass weighed-in on October 17.
